Silent Voice provides unique community-based programs to deaf children, adults and families who use American Sign Language in the Greater Toronto area. A base-funded member agency of Catholic Charities, Silent Voice has been a respected partner in social services in the deaf community since 1975.

 

JOB POSTING – Sign Language Summer PRogram

1 Site Supervisor Position

6 Camp counsellor Positions

3 One to One Workers

4 KODA Camp Staff (Two weeks ONLY)

Start Date: June 19, 2017

Position Status: Contract Position ending August 18, 2017 at 35 hours per week.

Position Summary:

Site Supervisor is an experienced and reliable team player who will overlook camper attendance, staffing and programming on site.

Camp counsellors are team player who work together with the team in various area such as program planning, crafts, sports, swimming. Counsellors are also responsible for supervision of Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing campers.

One to One Workers are responsible and patient workers who will work with campers with special needs.

Koda Camp Staff are staff who are familiar with hearing children being raised by Deaf parents. The staff will work as a team to organize, supervis and develop programming during the two week camp for hearing children. The camp is located at our SLSP site and supervised by both the Site Supervisor and Cap Director.

Line of Responsibility: Responsible to the Camp Director.

Qualifications: Positive attitude, fluent in ASL, Knowledgeable and respect of Deaf culture. Excellent organizational skills, professional, self-starter, able to multi-task and work in a team setting.
