Love Positive Women Valentine’s Event
This year’s event will feature refreshments, an opportunity to make and receive valentines, crafty activities, and most importantly, community. All are welcome to join this event; kid-friendly activities will be available. Professional ASL interpretation will be provided during this event.
No RSVP is required.
LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN: Romance Starts at Home! (LPW) started in 2013. It is a holiday for women living with HIV that happens annually from February 1st – 14th. Using Valentine’s Day as a backdrop, LPW creates a platform for individuals and communities to engage in public and private acts of love and caring for women living with HIV. Going beyond romantic love to deep community love and social justice, LPW is a call to action. It requires participants to reflect on how they as either a woman living with HIV or an ally will commit to loving women living with HIV and then do it. Through action, change can be made to fueling economies of love and compassion. Working from a place of strength, LPW focuses on the idea of interconnectedness, relationship building, loving oneself and loving ones community. By starting from a place of love, within oneself there are endless ways that the negative impacts that HIV has on women living with HIV can be lessened.

Anyone who is a Shaw customer and has problems with captions should contact them for help at dale.henderson@sjrb.ca .
Problems I am aware of that involve Shaw include
– pubs and other public places that are unable to turn captions on for their TVs
– captions that sometimes appear smaller than at other times

YouthCO’s Core Training
You’re invited to our weekend-long Core Training on February 20 and 21, 9:30am-5:00pmboth days.
Core Training is mandatory for anyone who wants to be involved with YouthCO. (We promise, it’s lots of fun!) It’s also open to anyone (under 30) who wants to learn more about HIV and Hep C.
Learn all about YouthCO, our values and programs, and how you can get involved! Receive our nationally-recognized training on HIV and Hep C, with a focus on challenging stigma. Explore the intersections between HIV and other issues like colonization, oppression, and criminalization. Gain practical skills around safer sex and harm reduction.
YouthCO is committed to making our programs as inclusive and supportive as possible of all youth who are interested in attending. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make Core Training more accessible for you. ASL interpretation will be available if requested no later than February 4, 2016.
