VCC Celebration for Sara MacFayden

Are you a VCC grad? What do you remember from BAA class?

Self-discovery? Developing awareness of diversity? Moving across the language continuum “bridge”?

“Slow talking”, story-telling, loads of laughter?

Creative art, sheep mascots, test day treats?

Reflection, reflection, and more reflection?

How Sara was the coolest teacher you’d ever had?

Many of the interpreters working in BC today started their journey towards becoming an ally in the Deaf community in Sara’s class at VCC. After twenty-odd years of inspiring, engaging and educating future interpreters, support workers, parents of deaf children and others who went on to work in the Deaf community, Sara MacFayden will be leaving VCC to teach in the interpreting program at Douglas College.

Please join Vancouver Community College’s ASL & Deaf Studies Program between 5 and 7 PM on Friday, June 25th, 2010 to recognize the significant contribution Sara has made to the program. The celebration will take place at the Broadway campus of VCC with the exact location to be announced.

Please tell your fellow alumni working in different fields about this opportunity to thank Sara!
