The Canadian Association of the Deaf has a part-time position available for a Project Director.
“Strengthening Deaf Girls’ and Young Women’s Economic Prosperity” is a new national project funded by a contribution from Status of Women Canada, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Its goals are to increase awareness of barriers that can prevent Deaf girls and young women from fulfilling their economic potential; engage, educate and network with community partner(s); and apply what has been learned to the delivery of girl-led action-oriented and community-based activities.
The CAD’s office is located in downtown Ottawa; however, the duties of the Project Director can be carried out remotely; it is not necessary for applicants to live in or relocate to Ottawa. The position is for 15 hours/week for 17 months (February 4th, 2013, to June 27th, 2014). There is a possibility of expanding the hours if additional funding is obtained. Due to the nature of this position, preference will be given to women who are Deaf.
