VICEPRINCIPAL – OUTREACH SERVICES BC PROVINCIAL SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF
Reporting to the Principal of the B.C. Provincial School for the Deaf, the Vice? Principal of Outreach Services will be responsible for the coordination, implementation and delivery of Outreach services, as per Ministry of Education guidelines, in collaboration with B.C. Provincial School for the Deaf and provincial school districts.
General Duties:
-Program consultation and support to school districts in the area of education of deaf and hard of hearing students, including social learning and psycho?social development Assistance with professional development of staff/stakeholders and workshops for parents of deaf and hard of hearing students Operational coordination of the Provincial Resource Centre for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and
-Communication Programs, including identification of appropriate resource materials, dissemination of information regarding available resources, and facilitation of access to resources in the centre
-Collaboration with school districts in providing student initiatives for social learning Secretariat services to, and coordinating the work of, the Provincial Educational Review
-Committee for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; and Effective use of visual technology in delivering educational consultative services to outlying school districts in B.C.
Qualifications:
-Possess or eligible for a B.C. Professional Teaching Certificate and Canadian Educators of the
-Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH) certification Graduate work, preferably to the Master’s level, in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Recent teaching experience in a variety of settings (i.e. itinerant/resource /classroom) with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and students with cochlear implants Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language and knowledge of Deaf Culture Superior interpersonal skills Working knowledge of social/emotional/mental health needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
-Demonstrated skills in conducting in?service activities.
