“Hello everyone, my name is Cameron I’m Director at Large at here at GVAD Board. We recently went through shuffling. Now I will give the stage to our president to explain about new changes and another announcements.

“Thank you Cameron, now we agreed about shuffling, I am interim president starting today. Imran and Raakhee were co-president but now they just became Vice Presidents. We also have third vice president. So we have 3 Vice President. First one, Joel Kvarnberg, Vice President of Organization Development, we will explain this more later. Second one, Imran, Vice President of External Community Relations. No deaf people, only hearing people out there. Our third vice president, Raakhee will be VP of Community Engagement and Inclusion.

Fourth person on board, recently promoted, (point at person off camera), Cameron will become Secretary, his role remains same with media, deafbc and another things.

Our fifth person, Jessie will remain as our Treasurer. We are happy to announce what’s will be happening for next several months.

we will advertise these events next week but we will mention them now. I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Forrest Smith.

F: In September, in International Sign Language week, we will provide free asl classes for hearing people to go to. Then on Saturday Sept 24, we will have Corn Party! It’s baaaack now! We haven’t had Corn Party for 3 years, maybe 4 years Now we’re ready for it.

Oct 1st, Saturday, afternoon we will have GVAD AGM.

You all have been waiting for this long time, we will be having Bingo Night again! It will be on October 15th.

Diwali will be on Nov 5th.

We have decided we will have workshop presentation by Assadali Bachoo about Islamic Community on September 30, Thursday. Do we understand Islam or Muslims, no we don’t. So this workshop will help us understand more.

Ukraine get together in first week of January, I have to let you know we found out that few deaf people moved to here from Ukraine, where we were to welcome to them? This will help them to be welcomed into our community.

Indigenous ISL Workshop “What is ISL” will help us to understand what ISL is after Accessible Canada Act and Accessible BC Act added ISL into the law. Shame on me for not understanding about ISL, we can understand what ISL is. When? We will find out soon.

IBPOC, Indigenous, Black, People of Color Deaf Interpreter Training, we will happy to offer for any who are interested, there is white privilege, so we are happy to invest in IBPOC community. This training will be by Anita Harding around 30 hours, how many hours? In total 100 hours, no 20 hours for 3 courses, then 100 hours for volunteering.

3 grants today I focus on BC gaming grant, every year we get them, I have good case against them, and the board agree to work on it. Two grants for hiring, our goal if we get grant, we will have contract or staff, position for policy analysis over government policies or any other policies. Second position will be event coordinator.

now about my new position, from Aug 3rd to AGM, we plan to advertise all those events, locations and all of those will be TBA. TO help you to remember.

Me as interim president, remember every two years, we have formal election year for the board. It means this Oct 2022, will have formal election. Interim means anyone can be president, if the members want different president over me.

I want to say thank you to Imran and Raakhee, I feel like I have forced Imran and Raakhee to become co-presidents. get taste of it and oh, I’ve been supporting for 1 year and now I feel re-energized. Remember few month ago, June 27, we had Deaf Accessibility Appreciation event, it helped me to look into myself and figure out and made me realize and my family support and the board said yes, and welcomed me back.

I want to thank to Imran, Raakhee, Jessie and Cameron for last 13 months, saving GVAD and not closing it down and keep it going.

Guess what, for 100th Anniversary planning committee has been set up. We have selected 4 people. They are: Renu, Kristen, Melissa, Alayna they know each other and have a vision to make plans for our 100th anniversary. There is many opportunities and let’s not ignore it and take them. We have many deaf communities, one of them being OVAD, Island, North BC collaborate.

He says hello everyone, I hope you all enjoy your summer. My role is for local BC and connect with deaf communities in BC and go to Canada Association of the Deaf and following with members’ agreement. I make sure we are connected with deaf organizations in BC, such as OVAD and many others. My responsibility to make sure we are involved and that we are all on same page before we go to CADASC we can be the voice for the BC. Thank you. He then leave the camera.

He says hello everyone, nice to see you all, I am thrilled to become VP of External Communications Relations I will be connecting with different organizations such as BC accessible committee and other various hearing associations in BC. becoming their allies whether it succeeds or not. He says “VP of Community Engagement and Inclusion. She is not here at the moment, I will explain it for her. It means that she will be making events and be listen out to the members and communicate with them. Now here’s Jessie.

She says Hello everyone, my name is Jessie and you know my role is Treasurer and I will be helping another people in their roles. I have an assistant, let me show you.

Hello everyone again, for those who just joined the livestream, my name is Cameron, I just got promoted to position of Secretary. What does my role does? For the board meetings or AGM, I will be recording down the minutes. I also take responsibility for media, emails and forward the emails to right people. I also run websites, that’s everything into my role.
