Dear Deaf/Interpreter Community,

Our names are Ashley Campbell, Lisa Anderson, Linda Campbell. Lisa, Linda, (and Elphege) are identified as Deaf Professionals and fluent in the usage of American Sign Language (ASL). Ashley is identified as an interpreter professional, and fluent in the usage of ASL.

We are conducting a research study on Deaf professionals and Interpreters in
Professional Settings: Identifying resources and gaps for a report to the Accessibility Directorate
of Nova Scotia.

We are interested in conducting surveys and interviews with Deaf/Interpreter
members of the (D)eaf Community who meet the following criteria:
– Canadian resident
– Deaf Professional
– Interpreters
– Instructors in Interpreting Programs of Canada **only relevant for survey portion
– Above 18 years old
– Deaf Interpreters
– Deaf Community

If you are interested in participating, you will be asked to either or both, participate in the
survey and interviews.

The survey will take up to 30-45 minutes of your time. It is conducted in English-ASL. There is also a Deaf-Blind friendly version on request. We hope to secure funding for LSQ and French translations.

The interview will take up to one hour and a half of your time, and it will be conducted in a a
ZOOM session. The interview will be conducted with semi-structured questions where you
will be telling us about your experiences as either Deaf Professionals or Interpreters in
Professional Settings.

If you participate in the interview portion of our research, an honorarium of $100.00 will be
provided for your time.

Lastly, your participation in either/both portions of our research is voluntary, and you can
withdraw your participation anytime up to the data analysis process.
