Today, the CRTC published new regulations that will help make more information available to Canadians about the accessibility of broadcasting and telecommunications services.
Under the Accessible Canada Act, broadcasters and television and telecommunications service providers are required to publish accessibility plans and progress reports. They must also create a process to receive feedback about accessibility issues from members of the public.
The CRTC Accessibility Reporting Regulations ensure that these requirements will be implemented in a timely and effective way. The regulations set out rules on the timing, manner and form of the accessibility plans, feedback processes and progress reports of broadcasting and telecom companies.
