New Service Canada line for Deaf and HoH clients

Hello,

I’m writing on behalf of Service Canada, a department within the Government of Canada responsible for delivering a wealth of benefits and services to Canadians. Our services include major social security programmes such as:
*       Employment Insurance;
*       Canada Pension Plan;
*       Old Age Security;
*       Social Insurance Number; and
*       Passports.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Service Canada introduced a new specialized call centre to serve vulnerable clients or clients facing barriers, including people who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing. If a Deaf or hard-of-hearing person requires assistance with a Service Canada benefit or service, such as those listed above, they can call this number:

1-877-631-2657

Each one of our call centre agents at this new line has experience serving vulnerable Canadians, including taking interpreted calls through video relay services. If any of your clients or members have experienced difficulties getting service in the past, please consider calling this special number for clients facing barriers!

Please let me know if you have any questions about this new call centre.

Cordially,

Paul
