Home Sharing is a residential option that provides safe, nurturing, community-based, shared living arrangements for adults with diverse abilities. The service is provided by Home Share Providers who welcome an individual into their home, offering a warm, inclusive environment and customized supports.
Skills and qualifications of Home Sharing Contractors:
? Commitment to the values and principles of inclusive community living
? Previous experience supporting an individual with diverse abilities
? Sincere desire to provide a stable, safe, comfortable and inclusive home
? Good problem solving/communication skills and the ability to be flexible, adaptable, organized, and accepting
? Clear criminal record check; First Aid/CPR Certificate; Valid Driver’s license and driving abstract
This is a contracted position and the ideal candidate must be fluent in ASL with a comprehensive understanding of deaf culture as well as support needs for individuals with low vision.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: meal preparation, assisting with household chores (dishes, vacuuming, etc…), facilitating opportunities for social engagement and
accessing community resources.
A coach house or suite is preferred. Remuneration is based on guidelines determined by Community Living BC.
