Join SFU Resistance for an introductory workshop to the far political right and anti-fascism, in a historical and modern context, and in an Indigenous and non-Indigenous context. This workshop will distinguish between commonplace and extreme right-wing ideologies, as well as discuss various present-day far right movements, groups and public personalities. We will cover the tactics and projects of the far right and alt-right, and how the far right manifests on post-secondary campuses. We will then turn to historical opposition to far right ideologies, beginning with antifascist resistance before and during the Second World War, and a discussion of the evolution of the modern ‘ANTIFA’ movement. Finally, this workshop will provide examples of current antifascist struggles, and resources for those interested in more information.
