Hello,
I am a researcher in documentary TV. I work for a company in Montreal, called Pixcom Productions. I’m reaching out because we are producing the second season of a series for the CBC and AMI about people from across Canada who face discrimination, marginalization and ignorance. The series is called You Can’t Ask That! You can see a segment from season 1 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
It’s a documentary series that confronts prejudice and breaks down the taboos in our society in an entertaining yet authentic format. Every episode features several individuals who face similar challenges as they sit in front of the camera and candidly answer questions submitted by the public. The format is respectful and answers are honest, and sometimes entertaining, challenging the audience to rethink their assumptions on the episode’s topic.
As each episode features a variety of people, the audience is given a better understanding of the range of experiences and challenges these individuals have faced. The idea is to give candidates the safe and respectful forum to speak honestly about their lived experience.
I am writing because we are looking for participants from the deaf community, adults and children and we are hoping you would be able to share this with your membership. I have attached an image for social media as well. Anyone interested should email me at youcantaskthat@pixcom.com
If you would like to talk about this opportunity, have people you would like to suggest or if you have any questions at all, please feel free to call or email me.
Thanks very much, hope to talk soon.
Thea
