GVAD Media Release – Graphic Designer / Logo Announcement

Dear Community Member, 

As you may be aware, the Greater Vancouver Association of the Deaf is undergoing many changes this year. We are excited to share these changes with you at our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, October 5th. 

Details regarding the AGM, including the location and time, will be announced at a later date, pending ongoing decisions to be made between now and September 21st.  

We are working hard to reimage GVAD as we are approaching our centennial anniversary in 2026. It’s this particular reason, we are considering replacing our current logo with a new one to continue serving our community for the next century. 

It’s important to recognize and honor our current logo, which was designed by Mr. Paul Munch in the 1980s. This logo has been the icon of our organization for almost 40 years. As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Deaf community, we received Mr. Munch’s blessing to start the process in searching and selecting the successful graphic designer for our organization. 

As a city organization, we invite graphic designers in the Deaf community in the Metro Vancouver area to share their portfolios. The deadline to send portfolios is Friday, Sept 6th, at 5:00 pm. Interested candidates can submit their portfolios by emailing gvadoffice@gmail.com, or by mailing it to the address listed in the letterhead above. 

The successful graphic designer selected will be announced at the AGM this Fall. Members in attendance can share their ideas about what they want to see being included in the new logo. The successful candidate will be compensated in the amount of $1,000, once the logo is approved by voting members in attendance at the 2020 AGM.
