ISBISTER, Percy James, November 23, 1934 ? August 21, 2018
Percy James Isbister died peacefully in his sleep, August 21, 2018 in Vancouver, BC.
Percy was born November 23rd, 1934 to John and Jemima Isbister, on Denman
Island, BC. As a young boy Percy attended the Jericho Hill School for the Deaf in
Vancouver. Percy loved carpentry, giving family members many beautifully made
presents. Throughout his life, he had a way of making others laugh about himself, and
enjoyed family gatherings and parties. He loved visiting his brother Bob and family in
Chilliwack, where he could go for walks in the countryside, and visiting his sister Margaret
in Burnaby. Percy loved crib, and the deaf community’s many social activities. Percy’s
family would like to thank his many friends and supporters, and especially his loving
sister Margaret Ronald, VRS (Jess, Ruth, Gloria), Pacific Spirit (Anya), the Trinity
Lutheran Church (Pastor David and congregation), and his many interveners
(most recently Jenine, Bryce, Cheryl, Eszter, and Eileen). Percywas predeceased by his
parents and siblings, (John, Robert, Marcus, and Isobel). Percy’s life will be celebrated at
11:00 AM on Saturday, October 6th, at Saint Luke Lutheran Church, 10177 ? 148th street,
Surrey BC with Reverend David Nielsen officiating. A light lunch and reception will
follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the CNIB, or to the
Trinity Lutheran Church of the Deaf, or to Project Percy Isbister.
