Deaf Seniors of America 15th Biennial Conference in Seattle 2019

As chair of the forthcoming conference, I would like to devote this article on what should be exciting, exhilarating happening at the Deaf Seniors of America (DSA) 15th Biennial Conference, to be held in Seattle, Washington State, September 2 – 8, 2019.  It will take place at the exclusive Sheraton Seattle Hotel, 1400 Sixth Avenue, WA, 98101.   Washington State Deaf Senior Citizens is the host.
Any one 50 years of age and over, from all over USA  and Canada, is invited to participate in our week-long conference.
We are pleased to have Mrs. Donna DiMarco  officiate the commencement of our conference and equally thrilled with bringing in two ingenious entertainers from Canada – Angela Stratiy, a one woman comedian, and Maxim Formitchev, aka  Maximime,
Angela will grace our stage at an open ceremony in the evening with her alluring presence and her wise-cracking humours.  And, Maxim will perform at the closing ceremony, also the night of a banquet.
For tours, we have two pre-conference tours arranged by Andy Lange’s Travel. Both are Alaskan cruises with one given to more time and more in-depth trekking inland. Both are scheduled to return to Vancouver BC and Seattle just prior to the conference commencement.  Information on the cruises is posted in our website, dsa2019seattle.org.
During our conference week, Hands-on-Travel (HOT) is ensuring we have tours and trips for attendees who wish to take half-day or day-long trips in and about Seattle. With HOT, you can take in sights around the city, including Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Chihuly Sculpture Glass Gardens, Underground City, and out to Snoqualmie Waterfall, the Chateau Ste Michelle wine-tasting county, Boeing Aircraft Museum, and, definitely, Mt. Rainier.   Pre- and post-conference trips, arranged by HOT, are also in the planning for those wishing to travel to Vancouver/Victoria, BC.
You can register for your guest-room at the rate of $209USD per night at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel. Check into dsa2019seattle.org and register through the hotel’s web-link. Again, to be guaranteed your lowest rate, alert the booking clerk that you are attending our DSA Conference, and to avoid confusion, click on the dates only at September 2 and checking out September 8.

For the first time ever, DSA National Board and the DSA Seattle have agreed to team up on a Dual Silent Auction, a brand new concept for fundraisers.  Also, there will be an Art Show with Deaf artists in attendance, exhibits, workshops, a general meeting and Deaf Forum, Red Hat Society and Sports luncheons, Senior Bowl, and Bingo/Wingo – hosted by Vancouver, BC’s very own Happy Hands Club.
In conclusion, I’m delighted to be able to tell you we have 900 registering with us, with our goal of attaining 1300.
The rate for a combo ticket is now $320USD (or $270USD for Canadians), good to the end of 2018. To apply/register, use the registration form printed out from the website, dsa2019seattle.org. A combo ticket covers Open/Closing Ceremonies, tote bag with a package of freebies, including program book, workshops, exhibits, evening entertainments, Wingo, Senior Bowl, and Gala Banquet. Contrarily, any tours or events scheduled during the conference week denoted with $$ are not included in the combo ticket fee.
If you wish to pay in parts or use our layaway plan, please contact Hester Hussey at hhussey@me.com.
On behalf of my DSA 2019 Seattle Conference Management Team, I look forward to having you be a part of our conference, the only one ever to be situated in our bounteous Pacific Northwest.
