Weekend to End Breast Cancer

Hello!

On August 15, 2009, I’ll be participating in a very special event called The Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

I’ll walk 60 kilometres over the course of one weekend with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer and and other women’s cancers research, treatment, and services through the BC Cancer Foundation.

I’ve agreed to raise at least $2,000, and I’ve set my personal goal to $2,000 as well. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation of $20 or more? Use the link at the bottom of this email, and go visit my site or you can send me a cheque or give me cash and i can make the donation in your name. Please take the time to support me. Please keep in mind how far I’m walking – and how hard I’ll have to train.

According to the National Cancer Institute of Canada, approximately 20,500 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and about 5,400 will die from the disease. That’s why I’m walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer and other women’s cancers.. I hope that you’ll share this incredible adventure with me – by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,
Alma

  1. oops, found a typing error.. “did” should not be there after “walked” grin.. Now that I have your attention, don’t forget to donate what you can – $10 or more gets you a tax receipt.

  2. Hi, Good to see more people involved in the Weekend Walk to End Breast Cancer. My daughter Margaret (Margie) Fox is part of a team that is walking this year. Margie is an educational assistant at the BC School for the Deaf, at Burnaby South Secondary.
The team walked did last year, and Margie raised more than $2,500.00 and her team raised about $8,000. This year their goal is bigger, because their team is bigger.

Margie’s daughter Una did the Kid’s 5-km walk, and raised over $2,000.00 herself when she was 10 years old. This year she’s walking again, too. Kids are only required to raise $50, but many do much more.

Support Alma, Margie, Una and any other people you know who are doing the walk!
