Job Posting – MIS Dispatcher

The Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (WIDHH) is a unique non-profit service organization for Deaf and Hard of Hearing citizens. Our Agency provides services in Audiology, Counselling, Sign Language Interpreting and Communication Devices. We are located near Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver and offer a friendly and dynamic work environment and a chance to make a difference.

We are currently seeking to fill the following full-time position: Medical Interpreting Services (MIS) Dispatcher

Job Summary

The MIS Dispatcher is responsible to receive all calls pertaining to requests for booking ASL interpreters for medical situations and to select and assign the interpreter best suited to the stated needs of the appointment. This position reports directly to the WIDHH Interpreting Department Head.

Work Performed 

  • Prioritizes medical requests for interpreters 
  • Schedules and assigns interpreters to medical appointments 
  • Participates in the preparation of assignment forms for appointments 
  • Manages online interpreter scheduling database 
  • Uses email, text, Skype, video phone, Facetime, voice phone, TTY, and fax to communicate with public, interpreters, and medical professionals
