DeafDots News Writer
DeafDots provides “Alerts & News” signed video reports and announcements in American Sign Language (ASL) and Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ). Launched in September 2020, DeafDots is the first Deaf media news service exclusively for Deaf Canadians.
We are seeking a DeafDots news writer for our “Alerts & News” reports. This writer would write and assemble news stories in announcer format that is conductive to presenting information in both signed and captioning form within scripts with visuals and media.
Candidate needs to be:
* Knowledgeable and follow news activities that impact Deaf Canadians
* Pursue news leads
* Identify, compile and maintain list of potential stories
* Upon approval of specific stories, research, interview, compile, write stories that fit established DeafDots news announcer format and length, list sources
* Assemble stories in script format, editing and revisions, verify information and sources
* Locate suitable media – visuals and videos – in public domain
Two scripts with 4 stories in each script is due each month.
Rate is commensurate with experience, this is a freelance month to month work for hire agreement, payment is made monthly.
