The Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (WIDHH) is currently seeking a Case Manager (full-time) for our WorkBC Employment Services Program. Through delivery of the Employment Program of BC (EPBC), the Case Manager assists unemployed Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind individuals to prepare for, obtain and maintain sustainable labour market or community attachment through integrated case management services; formal needs assessment, employment counselling, return to work action plan development, job search support, administering financial supports, facilitating 1:1 or group workshops, referral to appropriate community resources and external programs and follow up, monitoring and reporting client progress and outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience working and communicating with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
Relevant Post-secondary education; combination of equivalent education and experience in Social Services, Employment Counselling/Career Development. CCDP designation preferred.
Minimum 2 years direct experience delivering employment related services, preferably in a case management capacity.
Familiarity with the Employment Program of British Columbia (EPBC). Experience in EPBC/WorkBC Employment Services Centre, preferred.
Demonstrated skills in employment assessment and identifying and/or delivering a range of interventions including skills development, self-employment, and placement services; job development and wage subsidy.
Labour market knowledge with a strong understanding of current job search techniques.
Experience working with diverse client populations including individuals with multiple barriers and persons with disabilities; ability to serve clients across all socio-economic and cultural groups, and engage and motivate clients in job search.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills combined with a professional demeanor and ability to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders; clients, staff, service providers, employers, funder.
Strong critical thinking and problem solving ability.
Exceptional organizational skills with an attention to detail.
Knowledge of community resources and relevant employment programs/services.
Advanced computer/technical skills including MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Social Media. Experience with electronic data management systems and/or direct experience utilizing ICM (Integrated Case Management System, is preferred.
Must be self–motivated and flexible with the ability to multitask, take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, and work effectively under pressure in a demanding performance based environment.
