BCSDAA Reunion 2020 Update

0

[Transcript: Hello it is regarding the Reunion 2020…previously announced of the postponement. I contacted the hotel and theatre of a new date for the reunion to secure a date for next year but I was told to HOLD and WAIT in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak as we won’t know when it gets under control ie tomorrow, next month, three months or six months. Nobody knows. What’s more, there were reservations at the hotel and theatre before us, and with the outbreak under control, the people who reserved before us will be contacted to see if they still want to keep or cancel their reservation. We have to wait for our turn to confirm our reservation for a new date, hopefully between May and July 2021. With that said, we will not be able to let you know of a new date until around June or July of this year. Soon as possible. I am asking for your patience as we all are on a same boat of uncertainty what ahead may bring to us and that we focus on eliminating the virus outbreak. Our health and safety are a priority. We will eventually announce a new date soon. For those who booked their flight, better cancel the booking. Stay healthy.]

Mar 17, 2020: COVID-19 Updates in ASL

0

Hello. I’m Jodi of Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility. I have been translating news releases into ASL in the last few days for the BC Ministry of Health, Adrian Dix and Dr. Bonnie Henry, who have been making joint statements with updates on COVID-19 in BC. There was another news release tonight at 5:50 PM so I’ll translate the English version now. “We are deeply saddened to announce that a further three people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recently passed away. Two were residents of the Lynn Valley Care Centre and one was a man in his 80s from the Fraser Health region. We offer our heartfelt condolences to their loved ones and the staff who cared for them. We are also announcing 83 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 186 cases in British Columbia. Of the new cases, seven are currently hospitalized, four are in intensive care, five have recovered and the remaining patients are at home in isolation…” Read the full story here: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2020H… For more information, you can visit other links at the bottom. Thank you.

Wavefront Centre: “Community & Language Advocacy”

0

Jodi, our ASL Community Relations Manager, wishes to acknowledge and thank everyone who contributed to the community & language advocacy efforts. Together, we finally received the attention of our BC government to provide ASL interpretation at every COVID-19 public briefing in this province. We have more work to do, but it would not have been successful without your collaboration! Let’s keep it up! Wavefront Centre will continue to translate future press releases into ASL as they become available. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for more updates. Thank you.

COVID-19: CUSTOMER UPDATE 1

March 16, 2020

Image

Dear Canada VRS Customers,

As the COVID-19 virus situation continues to evolve, I want to update you to let you know we are working intensely to keep Canada VRS operating.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our CAV team members, our customers, and the communities where we live, work and serve across Canada.
While we are currently operating at full capacity, changes due to this virus evolve quickly and unpredictably. As such, you may experience service disruptions.

In addition, during busy times, you can help by limiting the number of calls you make and keeping your calls short. We also ask that you limit calls to 9050’s customer service team to only “essential questions”.

We also advise you to prepare to use alternative services if necessary, such as: TTYs, IP Relay and text relay services, and text 9-1-1 services.

We encourage you to keep up to date with your local government announcements and advisories and follow their guidelines and recommendations.

Stay Healthy Everyone!

Sue Decker and the SRV Canada VRS Team
