Silent Sand DEAF Beach Vball Event

It’s Thursday!

Cheer Canada’s Deaflympic Men’s Beach Volleyball Teams before they leave for Bulgaria.

Tournament with 14 Professional Men’s Beach Vball teams – they will be made temporally “hearing distracted” thru MP3 players & compete vs our Deaflympians.

MP3 players will be similar to hearing aids (loud mixture of sounds/noises) and also
construction-style ear muffs.

ALL Players will play the game
visually.

Your challenge
The position is responsible for providing a wide array of finance support to an assigned Portfolio/Program/Branch (P/P/B). The incumbent will assist the Comptroller or Finance Officer with the management of revenue agreements arising from sources such as Licensing, Collaborative Research, Research Services, OGD financial arrangements, grant and contribution arrangements, etc. He/she will also provide ancillary finance support including financial reporting, petty cash coordination, , fund simplification process support, performance reporting and Project Systems support.

We are looking a Community Connector to build a network of friends and supporters around a wonderful young man who is deaf and uses American sign language.  The right person for this job is proficient in American sign language, has knowledge of the deaf community and is able to communicate well in both the deaf and hearing communities.

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • has strong facilitation skills
  • is able to fade into the background and let others shine
  • is good at planning activities
  • has gifts at planning and hosting events
  • understands how to intentionally build relationships
  • understands how to build connections in community
  • is organized and able to work well independently
  • is naturally able to see the gifts and abilities in people
  • is excited about putting an end to social isolation

 

This work is……

  • VERY part-time (6 hours per month), with flexible work hours
  • Current criminal record check required
  • Minimum one year commitment
  • Basic computer and internet skills are a must
  • Use of a vehicle and driver’s license is preferred
  • The starting contract wage is $22.00 per hour

Educational Assistant – St. Jude Catholic School, Vancouver

The position involves supporting a Kindergarten student with cochlear implants who will be integrated into a regular classroom, as well as supporting other students with varied needs. The suitable candidate will have a working knowledge of ASL and will be a team player who will work with a teacher of the deaf and the classroom teacher to adapt the program to meet the students’ needs. Compensation is commensurate with experience and abilities.

will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary, September 21st .
The Centre wants to get the word out to all past students and their families to offer this opportunity to re-connect with old friends.
