Food Safe Course Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Kelowna

The Okanagan Valley Association of the Deaf is sponsoring a Food Safe Course to take place all day Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 8:30 am to 5 pm with a half hour lunch break.

This one day course cost is free for all Deaf from the Okanagan area.

Funding for this course is being generously provided by the Deaf Community Foundation of B.C.

The location will be Okanagan College on K.L.O. Road in Kelowna. Room number TBA.

Successful graduates of this course will get a FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate.

Obituary: Douglas Arthur Rowe (May 16, 1947 – December 23, 2013)

On December 23, 2013, in Surrey, B.C., Douglas Arthur Rowe Sr. passed away
peacefully at the age of 66 with his family at his side. Much loved and cherished
best friend to his wife of 39 years, Margaret (Peggy) Rowe (Aldergrove, B.C.)
Sadly missed and loved by his children, Douglas Jr (Langley, B.C.), Tara
(Jacksonville, Florida ), Fred (Edmonton, Alberta) and Reba (Vancouver, B.C.).
Beloved son of Lily Rowe (Burlington, Ontario) and much loved brother to Lesley
(John) Roach (Hamilton, Ontario). Will also be sadly missed by grandchildren
Timothy, Chelsea, Tila and great grandson Steven (Aldergrove B.C.). Will also
be missed by his loving “Ford” family, Sharon, Edward, Diane, Robert, Russell
and David (Aldergrove, B.C.), William (Mississauga, Ontario) , as well as the
extended Ford and Rowe families in B.C., Saskatchewan and Ontario. Pre-deceased
by father Fred (2000), father-in-law Charles (1982) and mother-in-law Merle (2004).
Douglas was a graduate of the Ontario School for the Deaf (now Sir James Whitney
School) in Belleville, Ontario and will be missed by the many friends he made while
living at the school and by his love and enjoyment of sports. Heartfelt thanks go
to Dr. Hepburn, nurses and staff at the Kinsmen Place Lodge in Surrey, B.C. who
took such wonderful care of Douglas over the last 8 years. No visitation or funeral.
A private memorial service will take place in early 2014. At the family’s request,
tributes to Douglas may be made by sending donations to the Kinsmen Place Lodge,

Christmas Worship Service

Reality Church of Vancouver Christmas worship service – music, preaching, children’s story, etc.

Sunday morning services at Reality Church of Vancouver is at 10:30 am – we will have ASL interpreters at the service on December 22.

Location is: CHARLES DICKENS SCHOOL 1010 E 17th Ave, Vancouver (near Kingsway south between Fraser &Knight
