Hi There,

I am a Zumba Instructor, and am aware of Deaf Culture as well as the ASL language having gone to VCC and being a CODA. I have a class being held every Sunday for the Deaf Community at a fitness centre. My goal is to spread the word and fill the class with more bodies carrying awesome energy, to create a welcoming friendly, active atmosphere.

Within this class there is also the nutritional benefits. Before the dance exercise part, each participant will receive a herbal tea, followed by a muscle recovery shake after the class. Zumba is a mix of latin rhythms mix with fitness moves that will get you to burn calories while you have fun and dance.

To get in touch with me please email/text for further info and poster information. Or you can speak with Jodi Birley for more info.

Cheers!

Room and Board

0

Hello!
I am a young deaf lady from Kamloops. I am looking for a basement suite or a room and board either in Vancouver or Lower Mainland. I am planning to attend Vancouver Community College this fall.
Here is a little bit about myself and what I am looking for
– living with a family or a woman
– I love any pets
– Gluten free diet
– A place near Vancouver Community College, SkyTrain or bus stop as I will be using bus and skyTrain to commute.
– Easy going
– Not a party type, no drinking and looking for the same
If you have a room or a suite you would like to rent out, please do not hesitate to contact me at levi.lamon@gmail.com

Shout Back Fest

0

Shout Back Fest, an anarcha-feminist, queer, radical, anti-capitalist DIY music festival, ((is actively opposed to all forms of discrimination and oppression, and)) is committed to being inclusive and accessible to all.

To that end, Shout Back shall take appropriate measures to ensure full access and participation to folks who are deaf or hard-of-hearing by having ASL interpreters available at any selected Shout Back workshops, meet-ups and other activities over the course of the weekend. If you are a Deaf person or a Deaf group interested in participating in Shout Back Fest events, we encourage you to contact us directly to request interpreters and to specify what your interpreter preferences might be! You can contact us at: SAFER SPACES EMAIL

As interpreting services must be booked in advance, we ask that all community members RSVP to the workshops &/or meet-ups that they plan to attend at least a week in advance.

The need for an interpreter is created as much by the hearing person’s ignorance of sign language as by the Deaf person’s deafness; both people need an interpreter in order to communicate with each other.
