While not currently operating in British Columbia, Uber hopes to provide another reliable way to get around our communities and access a flexible earning opportunity.

How Uber is connecting those with hearing impairments to flexible income opportunities

Uber is committed to working with community partners to create earning opportunities for those who may otherwise be under or unemployed, and to helping Deaf and hard of hearing Canadians get around by introducing them to our new accessibility offerings. d/Deaf Artists Campaign

Access is a human right. Currently, d/Deaf artists do not have ongoing access to creative opportunities in the Vancouver theatre community. Work is beginning to address this exclusion, but in the meantime, there are artists whose creative drive shouldn’t be denied. The Story We Be is partnering with Theatre Terrific, New(to)Town Collective, and PTC in the launch of this crowdfunding campaign; what we see as an initial step to creating meaningful access, and to building an inclusive theatre community! Join us in this effort! Contribute today, and please spread the word!

CRTC invites comments on message relay services

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) would appreciate your views about Message Relay Services (MRS).

The CRTC regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications in Canada. One of our objectives is to ensure that Canadians with hearing or speech disabilities have equitable access to telephone services. For example, the CRTC requires many telephone companies to offer MRS to each of their subscribers. As you are likely aware, MRS are text-to-voice relay services that enable people with a hearing or speech disability to make and receive telephone calls.

On February 2, 2017, the CRTC launched a public consultation to review MRS to ensure that the services meet the needs of Canadians.

In this consultation, we would like your views on two types of MRS: 1) Teletypewriter (TTY) relay services and 2) Internet Protocol relay services. Please note that Video Relay Service will not be examined in this consultation, but will be examined at a later date.

All Canadians are invited to participate. We depend on you to tell us what you want and need. As such, we encourage you to share this information with your community. For more information, please visit the CRTC website athttp://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2017/2017-33.htm.

The Festival of Hope is a multi-phase initiative spread over several months that includes prayer, training, Community Action Projects, and many opportunities for evangelism.

The ministry culminates with a three-day festival from March 3 to 5, 2017 at the Rogers Arena. Intended to draw thousands of people to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, each evening will feature Christian musicians, testimonies, and the Gospel message from Franklin Graham. This is a non-ticketed event with free admission.

ASL Interpretation will be offered at the bottom of section 116 during the Festival of Hope. Interpreters will be there during regular program hours (7-10 on Friday and Saturday, 6-9 on Sunday) and we will also have an interpreter available for counselling purposes, if anyone would like to talk to a counsellor
