“Laura Wade’s depiction of wealth and privilege is savagely funny.” —Time Out (London)

Acclaimed playwright Laura Wade explores the lives of the young, wealthy, and privileged. In an oak-panelled room in Oxford, ten young bloods with cut-glass vowels and deep pockets are meeting, intent on restoring their right to rule. Members of an elite student dining society, the boys are bunkering down for a wild night of debauchery, decadence, and bloody good wine. But this isn’t the last huzzah: They’re planning a takeover. Welcome to the Riot Club.

SPECIAL PERFORMANCES:

Fighting Chance Productions, known for hard-hitting, edgy shows such as Parade, The Laramie Project and Sweeney Todd, brings Lower Mainland audiences another hard hitting piece of theatre, the Canadian premiere of playwright Laura Wade’s Posh. In Posh, an examination of power, privilege and persuasion, audiences are taken behind the scenes of a meeting of The Riot Club, an elite and secret dinner society comprised of ten of the ‘brightest, boldest and best’ students at Oxford in present-day-England

To open its 11th season Artistic Director Ryan Mooney has brought on Capilano University grad Allyson Fournier to direct this powerful piece of theatre. “Posh is fantastically written, wickedly funny, and gut-wrenchingly shocking.” says director AllysonFournier; “I’m delighted to bring this piece to North America in our current climate; it’s never been so poignant and timely as it is now.”

“Allyson is a smart and savvy director, having had her assist me, I’m excited to have her step into the director’s role on Posh,” says Artistic Director Mooney. “In my experience the best shows come from a passionate director, and to hear Allyson talk about Posh, it’s impossible to not see her excitement and enthusiasm for the piece. I’m sure audiences will feel the same after seeing it.”

Posh stars David Z. Cohen, Caroline Doyle, Kevin Hatch, Cole Howard, Tim Howe, Tom van Kalken, Dylan Leonard, Kelly McCabe, Jake Sheardown, Michael Shewchuk, Mariela Shuley, Riaan Smit and Tristan Smith. Posh is directed by Allyson Fournier. Stage Management by Stacy Albrecht. Costume Design by Jemma Schrauwen. Dialect Coaching by Alexander Lower. Choreography by Thomas Fournier
