Sharon Lee – Obituary

1363571_20161120LEE, Sharon Patricia
Died suddenly at her home in Burnaby from heart complications on November 13, 2016. She maintained a firm belief in God throughout her life. She was very happy and ready to go home to see Jesus and her mom and dad whenever He called her home. Sharon was born to the late Gordon and Alice (Ross) Lee on August 3, 1942. Sharon was deaf from birth and her one eye was blind but she was always happy, helped people, and loved making people laugh. She was very active in the deaf community her whole life. She attended Jericho School for the Deaf and after she graduated she became a teacher assistant at Jericho where she worked until her retirement. She was especially fond of children and maintained ties with many of her former students and colleagues. She attended the Deaf Community Church for many years and when it closed she held meetings in her home. She also opened her home for bible studies and helping others out when they needed a place to stay. Her sense of humour was always remarked upon by the people she came in contact with. Sharon was never married and had no children but she had close cousins and her deaf family that she loved and supported and who loved and supported her. She is survived by her family, her deaf family, her “spirit” son, Bo Wendell, and many friends, too many to be named. Sharon’s Celebration of Life service will be held at the Killarney Lutheran Church at 3022 E 49th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5S 1K9 on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the adjoining building, Trinity Lutheran Church for the Deaf where Sharon spent many Tuesdays playing Skip Bo. Sharon will be buried with her mother and father in the Murrayville Cemetery in Langley at a later date. The family gratefully declines flowers but if you would like to donate to any deaf or hard of hearing charities, you may do so as you wish. She was an honest, hard-working and delightful person and she lived a good life!
