Event info: Announcement of 2015 Deaflympics at BC Place Stadium
WHAT: 2015 Deaflympics Official Announcement
WHEN: Friday, March 19th, 2010 @ 2:00 pm (please try to arrive prior to 2pm)
WHERE: BC Sports Hall of Fame (enter via Beatty and Robson streets)
ACCESS: ASL and Deaf Interpreters provided, also wheelchair accessible
DRESS CODE: Business Casual (no ties required)
The event will be held at the BC Sports Hall of Fame, the entrance for the event is on Beatty Street in between Robson and Georgia Street.
The Hall of Fame is in BC Place Stadium through Gate A. There is a giant sign there that mentions the BC Sports Hall of Fame and we will try to have someone out to guide people.
(We would like to also ask if all former Deaflympics athletes whom have won medals at the Deaflympics to bring the medals to showcase.)
In terms of accessibility for transportation, it is only 2 blocks away from the Stadium Skytrain station and we recommend taking transit. There is no parking on site, but there are a few parking lots located within walking distance from the venue. The venue is also full accessible for those requiring wheelchair access.
We would like everyone to aim to be at the venue between 1:30- 2:00 as the announcement event will commence right at 2pm, then followed by a reception at 2:45 – 4:00. We will have ASL and Deaf Interpreters available for the announcement portion and the reception and those requiring to be placed at the front of the room, just inform us as you walk in and we will definitely accommodate your request.
We would also like to mention that you are more than welcome to invite guests to attend as well, as we would love to keep this event open for those interested in attending the announcement.
Alternatively, we will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting on March 25th,2010 at Douglas College for a more in depth discussion on the 2015 Deaflympics.
