Filmmaking Workshop

During the week of August 17-21, 2009, the Deaf Culture Centre and the Canada Council for the Arts are co-sponsoring a “De’VIA Filmmaking Workshop” open to only twenty people from across Canada, between the ages of 18 and 24. I have attached a .PDF package, which includes the flyer, the schedule, brief biographies of the presenters, and the application.

Throughout the week, participants will have opportunities to analyze De’VIA elements and learn how to reflect the De’VIA philosophy in short films that they will complete by the end of the week. This is a very exciting opportunity for young rising Deaf filmmakers to hone their skills and to network with fellow Deaf filmmakers, as well as receiving advice from experts in the field. Last, but not least, participants will be able to show their film during a showcase open to the community on Friday evening, August 21 — and take a copy of their film home with them!

Remember, only twenty Deaf filmmakers will be able to participate, so apply now!

If you have any questions or issues with opening/viewing the file, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thank you!

Intern, Deaf Culture Centre
